Pay for this streaming service. Pay for that streaming service. If you’re like me, you’re close to the breaking point on paying for streaming services. Thankfully, our neighbors to the north have come to the rescue.
Canada’s National Film Board app allows you to stream many of the best/unique independent films in Canadian history, in a free app, without ads, and you don’t even have to create an account. (although you can.)

This is all possible thanks to the robust funding for the arts in Canada. And while I’m sure many Canadians feel that even more could be done to support the arts, to those of us in the good ol’ U.S. of A., just having an app that’s free, and doesn’t treat us as a product, is incredibly refreshing.
You can check out the NFB projects on their website, or through their free iOS app.
